ROXY Surfanywhere Event, Ibiza | SUP Stand Up Paddle Surf

ROXY chose Sunset Point Sports Resort to accommodate its 6 riders during the event ROXY Surf Anywhere that took place in Ibiza, Spain. Following is the official press note.

ROXY Surf Anywhere in Ibiza

On Sunday 23 May, ROXY SURF ANYWHERE brought the spirit of surfing to the island of Ibiza with a Stand-Up-Paddle (surf with row) crossing led by its best riders.

ROXY, the leading firm in the world of women’s surf gear, chose the island of Ibiza to instill this modality of surfing in the form of a round trip crossing, leaving the beach of Cala d’Hort down to Es Vedra and back, a challenge never undertook before. for this event, ROXY gathered a luxury panel and brought to the island its world's best windsurfing, kitesurfing and bodyboarding riders.

It was the first time that the Canarian Daida and Iballa Moreno, Ángela Peral from Valencia, the Basque Eunate Aguirre and Andalusian Marina Alabau and Blanca Manchon competed together in the same event. The show was assured!

After the traditional greeting to the sun, the day began with a yoga session on the beach. At 11:00 h the riders dived into the turquoise waters of Cala d’Hort, armed with their board and paddle, targeting the enigmatic rock of Es Vedra.

The crossing consisted in three stages. In the first, the Roxy riders paddled along the cliff of Sa Olivera. In the second, they crossed the sea to reach the smaller rock of Es Vedranell, bordering it to tackle Es Vedra, a stretch marked by strong currents, cross winds and deep waters.Finally, the third stage saw the riders reaching the lighthouse of E Vedra, on the north of the island. After nearly a four hours journey, the ROXY girls were back to the beach, where they were received with "leis", the traditional Hawaiian necklace, amidst applause and hurrahs. All agreed that it has been one of their best experiences and can not wait to repeat it again.

But ROXY SURF ANYWHERE did not end there. All attendeesat Cala d’Hort ROXY lived a festive day. Throughout the day, ROXY organized lessons of Stand-Up Paddle in collaboration with STARBOARD and SUNSET POINT SPORTS RESORT, yoga sessions and a chill out area livened up by a DJ, to enjoy to the most this unique and pioneer event on the island.

More than 100 people started made their first step this legendary surf modality and many others came to the creek to witness the ROXY girls journey and meet in person the team riders. Without doubt, the magnetism of Es Vedra and the positive energy of our girls one days made this event unique, Roxy-style!
